Their versatility and wide sensing range makes them an excellent choice for a variety of analog sensing applications including industrial and automotive position, speed, and current sensors. The sensors are configured as inherently temperaturecompensating Wheatstone bridges. AA-Series sensors are magnetometers, which detect absolute magnetic field. AB-Series sensors are differential gradiometers, which detect field gradients. Three magnetometer subtypes are available: the standard AA-Series; the ultrasensitive “H” subtype; the high-field, kilooersted range “K” subtype, and the low-hysteresis “L” subtype. Packages are as small as an ultraminiature 1.1 x 1.1 mm ULLGA4. 1 NVE Corporation 11409 Valley View Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55344-3617 Phone: (952) 829-9217 sensor-apps@ nve.com www.nve.com ©NVE Corporation AA/AB-Series Analog Magnetic Sensors Absolute Maximum Ratings Parameter AAxxx/ABxxx/AAL002 Supply voltage AAHxxx/AAKxxx/ABHxxx/ AAL004/AAL024 Operating temperature AAxxx/AAKxxx/ABxxx/AALxxx AAHxxx/ABHxxx Storage temperature AAxxx/AAKxx/ABxxx/AALxxx AAHxxx/ABHxxx ESD (Human Body Model) Applied magnetic field Voltage from sensor connections to center pad (applies to TDFN package only) Symbol VCC H Min. −50 −65 −65 Max. 24 12 125 150 135 150 400 Unlimited 63 Units Volts °C °C °C Volts Tesla Volts DC 2 NVE Corporation 11409 Valley View Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55344-3617 Phone: (952) 829-9217 sensor-apps@ nve.com www.nve.com ©NVE Corporation AA/AB-Series Analog Magnetic Sensors Operating Specifications Parameter Supply voltage AAHxxx/AAKxxx/ ABHxxx/AAL004 AAxxx/ABxxx/AAL002 Operating temperature AAKxxx AAxxx/ABxxx/AALxxx AAHxxx/ABHxxx Electrical AAxxx/AAKxxx/AALxxx/ABxxx offset AAHxxx/ABHxxx Output at maximum field AAxxx/ABxxx AAHxxx/ABHxxx AAKxxx AALxxx Nonlinearity AAxxx/AAKxxx/ABxxx/AAL002 AAHxxx/ABHxxx/AAL0x4 AAHxxx/ABHxxx Hysteresis AAxxx/AAKxxx/ABxxx AALxxx Resistance tolerance Resistance vs. temperature AAxxx/ABxxx AAHxxx/AAKxxx/ AALxxx/ABHxxx AAxxx/ABxxx AAHxxx/ABHxxx AAKxxx Output AALxxx temperature AAxxx/ABxxx coefficient AAHxxx/ABHxxx AAKxxx AALxxx AAKxxx AAKxxx Frequency AAxxx/AAHxxx bandwidth AALxxx ABxxx/ABHxxx Junction– Ambient thermal resistance ULLGA4 (-14 suffix) TDFN6 (-10 suffix) MSOP8 (-00 suffix) SOIC8 (-02 suffix) ULLGA4 (-14 suffix) Power Dissipation TDFN6 (-10 suffix) MSOP8 (-00 suffix) SOIC8 (-02 suffix) Symbol VCC TMIN; TMAX VO VOUT-MAX TCR TCO-I TCO-V TCHSAT fMAX θ JA PD Min. <1 −40 −50 −4 −5 19 −20 DC Typ. 60 40 25 45 4 15 +0.14 +0.11 +0.03 -0.28 +0.13 −0.28 −0.1 -0.40 −0.3 −0.4 −0.19 500 320 320 240 100 500 500 675 Max. 12 24 85 125 150 +4 +5 2 4 2 +20 50 75 500 1 Units Volts Test Condition Maximum limited by power dissipation °C mV/V mV/V % Unipolar field % sweep % %/°C 25°C No applied field %/°C Constant-current supply %/°C Constant-voltage supply %/°C kHz kHz kHz MHz −3 dB bandwidth °C/W mW Soldered to double-sided board; free air 3 NVE Corporation 11409 Valley View Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55344-3617 Phone: (952) 829-9217 sensor-apps@ nve.com www.nve.com ©NVE Corporation AA/AB-Series Analog Magnetic Sensors Operation Sensor Subtypes There are four AA/AB-Series subtypes, as summarized in the table below. “H” subtypes are designed for very high sensitivity, and “K” types have low sensitivity and high saturation for high-field sensing. “L” types offer low hysteresis. AAH-Series parts also have a 150°C maximum temperature specification. Parameter Field Sensitivity Operating Field Range Hysteresis Max. Direction of Sensitivity Unlike Hall effect or other sensors, the direction of sensitivity of GMR sensors is in the plane of the package, which more convenient for many applications. Two permanent magnet orientations.
