8-BIT MICROCOMPUTER UNIT
The MC6805P2 Microcomputer Unit (MCU) is a member of the
M6805 Family of low-cost single-chip microcomputers. This 8-bit
microcomputer contains a CPU, on-chip CLOCK, ROM, RAM, I/O, and
TIMER. It is designed for the user who needs an economical microcom-
puter with the proven capabilities of the M68oo-based instruction set.
The following are some of the hardware and software highlights of the
MC6805P2 MCU.

This device contains circuitry to protect the
inputs against damage due to high static
voltages or electric fields, however, it IS ad-
vised that normal precautions be taken to
avoid application of any voltage higher than
maximum rated voltages to this high-

POWER CONSIDERATIONS
The average chip-junction temperature, Tj, in °C can be obtained from:

PD= PINT+ PPORT
PINT= ICC x Vce Watts - Chip Internal Power
PPORT= Port Power Dissipation, Watts - User Determined
For most applications PPORT<C PINT and can be neglected. PPORT may become significant if the device is configured to
drive Darlington bases or sink LED loads.
An approximate relationship between PD and Tj (if PPORT is neglected) is:
PD=K-+-(Tj+273°C)

Solving equations 1 and 2 for K gives:
K = PDe(T A + 273°C) + (;ljAePD2

Where K is a constant pertaining to the particular part. K can be determined from equation 3 by measuring PD (at equilibrium)
for a known TA. Using this value of K the values of PD and Tj can be obtained by solving equations (1) and (2) iteratively for any
value of TA.
