A Write Protect Register at the hig hest address location, FFFFh, provides three write protection features: Softwa re Write Protect, Block Lock Protect, a nd Programmable Hardware Write Protect. The Software Write Protect feature pre vents any nonvolatile writes to the dev ice until the WEL bit in the Write Prot ect Register is set. The Block Lock Pro tection feature gives the user eight ar ray block protect options, set by progr amming three bits in the Write Protect Register. The Programmable Hardware Wri te Protect feature allows the user to i nstall the device with WP tied to VCC, write to and Block Lock the desired por tions of the memory array in circuit, a nd then enable the In Circuit Programma ble ROM Mode by programming the WPEN bi t HIGH in the Write Protect Register.
