The built-in radio protocol provides all the low-level radio link management and error correction functions. These are completely transparent to the user. A maximum practical data rate of 115.2kb/s is possible in either direction. Achievable range is typically 200m line-of-sight and there is no licensing requirement for usage of devices on these frequencies.
