Medium Power Film Capacitors FB (RoHS Co mpliant) DC FILTERING http://www.Datash eet4U.com/ The FB series uses a non-im pr egnated metallized polypropylene die lectric specially treated to have a ver y high dielectric strength in operating conditions up to 100°C. The FB has be en designed for printed cir cuit boar d mounting. FB series performance charac teristics make them a viable alter nati ve to aluminum electr olytic technology due to much lower ESR and much higher surge voltage capability (dv/dt). OPERATING T EMPERATURE RANGE Operating temperature range: -40ºC to +100ºC LIFETIME EXPE CTANCY One unique featur e of this tech nology (versus aluminum electrolytics) is how the capacitor r eacts at the end of its lifetime. Unlike aluminum elect r olytic, film capacitors do not have a catastrophic failure mode. Film capaci tors simply experience a parametric los s of capacitance of about 2% of initial value, with no risk of a short cir cui t. The capacitor continues to be functi onal even after this 2% decrease.
